Latur: Some farmers of 3 tehsils of the Latur district of Maharashtra have been demanding electricity connection for the last 4 years. But, their demand has not yet been fulfilled. Some time ago, the engineer of the electricity department told the farmers, "The approval from above has not yet come, the amount you have deposited is just an engagement, the marriage is yet to happen."

On this matter of the same officer, on Saturday, the farmers of these 3 tehsils arrived at the office of the Electricity Department as a groom and the people accompanying them arrived as a wedding procession. Placards were also seen in the hands of the farmer groom riding on the horse and the farmer who became the wedding procession to fulfill the demand. The farmers, who reached the electricity department office, told the officer, "If the engagement is done, now get married too." In fact, the farmers of Nilanga, Ausa, and Shirur Anantapal tehsils of Latur district carried out a unique movement in front of the State Electric Board office in Nilanga town as baraatis. It is being said that some farmers coming in the area of these three tehsils had paid the demand in the year 2018 in the Maharashtra State of Electric Board office located in Nilanga tehsil to get electricity connection for agriculture, but even after four years the connection was not received.

Due to this, when the farmers reached the State Electric Board's office to complain, the engineer of the office, Patil, ignoring the demands of the farmers, said, "You have only paid the demand, that means only the engagement has taken place when your Approval will come from above, only then marriage will happen and you will get electricity connection." The people present with the farmers became baraatis. The farmers of these three tehsils took out a front at the State Electric Board office to protest against the strange statement made by the officer of the Electric Board office. On reaching the State Electric Board office, The farmers told Engineer Patil, "Sir, we have come to you as a bridegroom, get us married soon and give us an electricity connection." According to farmer Santosh Hirat, "After filling the demand in the State Electric Board office I was given electricity connection in my farm, but the reason for the increase in load is the connection has been disconnected. For the last 4 years, due to the non-availability of electricity connection even after filling the demand, today along with other farmers, they have protested and demanded that electricity connection should be made available as soon as possible.
