Farmers' tractor march on state and national highways today, alert issued

New Delhi: The protest of farmers agitating for many demands including MSP continues. Farmers have been standing at the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana since 13 February. Meanwhile, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) is going to celebrate 'WTO Quit Day' today. Under this, farmers will park their tractors on national and state highways from 12 noon to 4 pm. However, farmers claim that due to this, traffic jams will not be allowed, but still the police is on alert mode.

Today two groups of farmers, Bharatiya Kisan Parishad and All India Kisan Sabha, will protest outside NTPC Noida Greater Noida Authority office. BKU (Tikait faction) will lead the demonstration at Noida-Delhi border with tractors. BKU Tikait's Western Uttar Pradesh president Pawan Khatana said, 'We have decided to line up tractors from Greater Noida to Noida and take out a march via Yamuna Expressway, which will proceed towards Noida Expressway via Chilla Border.

Today's protest has been organized with the demand of excluding India from WTO. The United Kisan Morcha has made a demand to the Central Government, under which pressure should be put on the developed countries to keep agriculture out of the WTO in the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to be held in Abu Dhabi from 26 to 29 February. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has warned the government. He has said that the government should not be deceived that the movement will end in the next 2-4 days. Action should be taken against those who killed Shubhakaran. Due to the wrong policies of the government, Shubhakaran's cremation could not take place till date. It is the responsibility of the Punjab government to provide security to the farmers. Haryana Police is coming to the border of Punjab and taking away our farmers.
