Fatal Tragedy Strikes: Four Lives Lost as Pickup Van Collides with Resting Group in Village

Lucknow: Four individuals tragically lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries when a pickup van struck them while they were resting under a tree in a village here on Saturday, according to authorities. The incident sparked outrage among villagers and the families of the victims.

Local residents apprehended the van driver and handed him over to the police, officials stated. District Magistrate Manoj Kumar of Budaun identified the deceased as Prakash (42), Brajpal (35), Dhanpal (55), and Gyan Singh (40). "They were part of a group resting under a tree in Paigam Bhikampur village when a pickup van veered out of control and collided with them. Two others sustained injuries and have been hospitalized," Kumar explained.

Following the incident, locals and the victims' families staged protests and demanded swift action against the van driver. They also prevented authorities from conducting postmortem examinations on the bodies, Kumar mentioned. "We are in constant communication with the locals and have assured them of taking appropriate action against the accused," he reassured.

Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi informed the media that the bodies were transported for postmortem examinations in the evening. To maintain law and order, police personnel have been deployed in the village, authorities confirmed.
