FM Nirmala Sitharaman discharged from AIIMS

NEW DELHI: Central Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been discharged from All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) today, December 29, sources said.

The Finance Minsiter was admitted to AIIMS on December 26 with symptoms of viral fever and was admitted to a private ward of the hospital for a routine check-up. Her  hospitalisation comes at a crucial time since the presentation of Budget of the nation is only a month away.

On Saturday, she attended the 35th annual convocation of The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai. The Finance Minister Sitharaman  observed that medical education in Tamil Nadu should be taught in Tamil language since there was a definite need towards strengthening it.

On Sunday, the FM paid floral tribute to the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on his birth anniversary at ‘Sadaiv Atal’ in New Delhi.

Next year's budget is expected to be the last full budget of Narendra Modi government in its 2nd term with the next Lok Sabha elections due in April-May of 2024. The formal exercise to prepare the annual Budget for the next financial year began on October 10.
