'Focus on Printing Rs. 500 Note' said, Economic affairs secretary, 'Shaktikanta Das'

Shaktikanta Das,Economic affairs secretary, on 15 December talking about the demonetisation said, that "initially the focus was on printing Rs 2,000 notes and now the focus has been shifted to Rs 500 as there is enough of former now". According to him, in another 10 days about 50 percent of the value of notes demonetised will be replaced.

The secretary also said that continuously the agency is raiding on various places of bank branches and Rs 2000 note discovered will be given back to the system. He said "We have requested the banks to continue dispensing cash via ATMs".

Government is taking all the steps for the smooth functioning of the distribution of cash. Das also said "The income tax raids and other actions taken by enforcement agencies are based on specific inputs. "You may call in surgical action".
