Dubai: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has passed away. This news has come out from Pakistan media. Musharraf had been ill for a long time. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dubai. General Pervez Musharraf passed away at the age of 80 in Dubai.  

Pervez Musharraf has been the President and Army Chief of Pakistan. He took over the command of Pakistan in 1999 by overthrowing the democratic government of Nawaz Sharif and was the President of Pakistan from June 20, 2001, to August 18, 2008. During Musharraf's tenure, terrorist attacks on India increased. In 2005, Parade magazine included Musharraf in the list of the world's 10 worst dictators.  

Musharraf was also arrested in connection with the murder of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Balochistan nationalist leader Akbar Khan Bugti and the red mosque demolition. Musharraf was also tried for detaining judges during the Emergency in 2007. In 2013, the Nawaz Sharif government urged the Supreme Court to initiate a treason case against him. Musharraf has been living in Dubai since March 2016.
