Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) caught the director of a real estate company on Saturday. He had been on the run from Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada in a cheating case.
With the help of the Andhra Pradesh Police, Manoj Kumar Panda, one of the accused Directors of M/s Odyssa Home and Commercials Pvt Ltd, a real estate company, was taken into custody from Annavaram in Kakinada district on Saturday.
Panda was brought before the Judicial Magistrate of 1st Class Court of Prathipadu, East Godavari, and was sent to Bhubaneswar on transit remand to be brought before the OPID Court, Cuttack.
Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra filed a complaint that led to the case. It is said that the Directors of M/s Odyssa Homes and Commercials Pvt Ltd lured many investors out of Rs 20 crore under the guise of giving them flats in their "Ganapati Homes" Apartment Project in Sampur Mouza, Bhubaneswar, near Kalinga Studio.
Police said that the Directors of Odyssa Homes have also been charged with other crimes at different police stations.
Police say that Manoj Kumar Panda was in charge of all of the company's business and that he lied to many investors about getting flats or land in the company's different projects.
The CEO of the company, Aurobindo Santra, has already been arrested in the case and is now in the custody of the court.
Look out notice was issued against Panda by the Bureau of Immigration on the request of Economic Offence Wing. Based on the information they got, a team followed the suspect from Vishakhapatnam to Annavaram in the Kakinada District of Andhra Pradesh. They finally caught Panda hiding in a hotel near the Annavaram temple.
The accused moved around a lot, usually every one or two days. During the investigation, a lot of evidence has been seized, like contracts, money receipts, etc., that could be used against the person. The case is being looked into right now.
