Panaji: In Goa, a ban has been imposed on the loudspeaker. In fact, the order was given after hearing the plea of a software engineer named Varun Preolkar. Varun is doing job in a multinational company, but he was not able to do his job because of the noise of the loudspeaker coming from mosques five times a day.
It was becoming very difficult for them to work in loudspeaker noise five times a day from nearby mosques, including Noorani Masjid, Safa Masjid, Sunni Shahi Madina Masjid, Masjid in Panditwari. These mosques belong to various sects of Islam, including both Shia and Sunni. Varun then turned to the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court to save his job and mental peace and filed a petition against the use of loudspeakers for the mosques.
In the petition, he referred to his fundamental right, according to the Regulation and Control Rules 2000. The High Court issued a writ directing the additional collector to rectify Varun's complaint and settle the case within three months. A complaint case was filed before the Additional District Magistrate's Court, which after hearing Varun's complaint and seeking a response from mosques, loudspeakers against mosques. GHC has passed the order directing them not to use the public address system.
