Relief to millions of farmers! Modi govt announces MSP for Kharif crops

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced minimum support prices for Kharif crops for the crop year 2021-22. 1,940 per quintal for the crop year 2021-22, from Rs.1,868 per quintal last year. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the Modi government is committed to double the income of the country's food providers. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all Kharif crops for kharif marketing season 2021-22 has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. Crores of annadatas of the country will benefit from this.

 

 

He said that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, in the last 7 years, he has taken a number of decisions in the field of agriculture one after the other, which will increase the income of the farmer, attract farmers to the expensive crops, bring prosperity to the farmer's house and make farming a profitable deal. The Modi government has a revolutionary decision to fix MSP at the level of 1.5 times the cost of production (or at least 50 per cent profit on cost of production).

Similarly, as compared to last year's procurement of 372.23 lakh MT, more than 416.95 lakh MT of wheat has been procured so far, benefiting about 45.67 lakh farmers. Tomar said that for the current Kharif Marketing Season 2020-21 (upto 6th June, 2021), more than 813.11 lakh MT of paddy was procured at MSP as compared to 736.36 lakh MT last year, which has benefited more than 1.20 lakh annadatas for the ongoing Kharif Marketing Year. 82,347.39 crore has been transferred directly to the donors for procurement of wheat in rabi marketing season 2020-21 (upto 6th June, 2021) through direct DBT.
