New IT Rules: Google and Koo submit their report to govt, but Twitter not agreeing

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tussle between the central government and Twitter amid new IT rules, other social media platforms have started working under these rules. Koo Indian platform, Google has submitted its first compliance report to the government. It is expected that Facebook will submit its report to the government soon.

In fact, under the new IT rules that came into effect on May 26, social media platforms have to issue a report per month explaining how many complaints they received and what action they took on them. These complaints may be about content, objectionable posts, copyrights, or anything else.

What the Koo report says:-

Under the new IT rules, Koo has submitted a Compliance Report (Compliance Report) for the month of June, the company says it will submit its report on the first date per month, which will also be available on public platforms. According to the report, a total of 5502 reports were received by the Koo in June. In these, he deleted 1253 posts and took other action against the rest of the posts. In addition, complaints were received against about 54,235 accounts, out of which about 2,000 accounts were deleted and the rest were taken into action. These actions include warning, blurring a picture, or other things.

Google also submitted the report:-

Search engine Google has also submitted an April compliance report. About 96 percent of the complaints to Google came with copyright. Google received more than 27,000 complaints between April 1 and 30. In addition to Google, Facebook will also submit its report. The interim report will be submitted by Facebook on July 2 and the full report on July 15. State that the Facebook report will also contain data related to WhatsApp.

The new IT rules of the Government of India have been accepted mostly by social media platforms, although Twitter is still objecting. That is why there is a war going on on many fronts between Twitter and the central government.
