The GST Council meeting is to held on Monday. The meeting is to have a final decision on both the issues proposed by the central government on GST compensation. The situation so far is that both the proposals of the Centre for GST compensation on behalf of all other non-BJP states except Odisha and Puducherry have not been sanctioned. On the other hand, 21 states have already shown a willingness to sanction the first proposal.

In such a way, the central government can compel all other states to accept it on the basis of the proposal accepted by these states. Non-BJP regions like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jharkhand, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana have already said that they do not accept any loan at their level of compensation.

The sources said that in the forthcoming meeting on behalf of the central government, it will be clearly conveyed to all the States that whoever does not accept the proposal issued in the last meeting on GST compensation will have to be prepared to in bear huge financial losses. As per the GST law, if 20 states accept the proposal issued by the Council, it will have to accept the remaining states also. So far, 21 states have accepted it. From one side, the states which have not yet filled the proposal will have any choice but to accept it. At the same time, the meeting is now awaited.
