Gujarat: violent clashes in two communities, one dead and several injured

AHMEDABAD: One person has died after being shot in a clash between two communities in Khambat in Anand district in Gujarat on Friday. While giving information, a senior police officer has said that the police opened fire to bring the situation under control, but it is not yet clear whether the man named Vinu Chavda died due to police firing.

Superintendent of Police Makrand Chauhan has said that clashes broke out between the two communities in the communally sensitive Akbarpur area of Khambat town. Police opened fire to bring the situation under control. He said that one person died after being shot. But it is still a matter of investigation whether he was shot by the police or shot by someone else. The situation is under control now. 

In the video of this incident, some people are seen pelting stones from the roofs of houses. A police officer has said on the condition of anonymity that the houses of five people of both the communities were burnt. They have told that the police fired bullets and fired tear gas shells to control the situation.
