Surat: In the wake of severe flooding in Gujarat, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel visited the inundated areas of Borsad in Anand District. Patel, accompanied by a team, conducted the inspection from a tractor due to the extensive water coverage in low-lying regions.

Patel addressed the situation, stating, "The heavy rainfall has led to water accumulation in low-lying areas. To prevent the spread of water-borne diseases, the Aarogya team and doctors are actively working in these areas." The intense rainfall has severely impacted various districts across Gujarat, leading to flood-like conditions. As of Wednesday, officials confirmed that eight additional fatalities have occurred, raising the total death toll to 61.

Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey reported ongoing rescue operations in Dwarka and Surat. "We are in constant communication with the Chief Minister about the heavy rainfall situation. Based on the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast, a red alert has been issued for South Gujarat. Rescue efforts are underway, and we have relocated several individuals from Dwarka and Surat to safer locations," Pandey said.

Pandey also confirmed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are working diligently across affected districts. Despite these efforts, the recent 24-hour period saw eight more casualties, increasing the total number of deaths to 61. Anand District is experiencing significant waterlogging due to the relentless rain. In response, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an aerial survey of villages in the coastal districts of Saurashtra, including Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka, to evaluate the damage and response efforts.

During a review meeting with officials from Devbhoomi Dwarka and Jamnagar, the Chief Minister emphasized a zero-casualty approach and directed the district administration to prioritize the safety of residents amid the ongoing heavy rains. The coastal districts of Saurashtra, including Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar, have faced severe disruptions due to waterlogging in low-lying areas, affecting daily life. The Chief Minister’s inspection aimed to address these issues and guide the response strategy for the affected regions.
