Ahmedabad: A tragic road accident occurred in Surat, Gujarat on Monday night. More than a dozen people sleeping on the pavement were crushed by the truck. 13 people were killed in the incident while several others were reported to be seriously injured. At present, the injured have been admitted to the hospital. According to police, all the victims of the accident are labourers by profession and are residing in Rajasthan.
As per the information received, the tragic road accident occurred on Kim Mandvi Road in Surat late Monday night. The incident occurred when the fast-moving truck driver hit the sugarcane laden tractor in an attempt to overtake. The truck driver lost control because of the collision and overturned the labourers sleeping on the roadside.
In this accident, 13 people died on the spot while five persons were reported to be seriously injured. A six-month-old girl has been miraculously rescued in the incident. However, the parents of the child lost their lives. The injured are currently undergoing treatment. The police have shifted the bodies of the deceased to the hospital for post mortem.
