Lucknow: As soon as the wind speed calms down completely, the pollution in the cities has started suffocating. On Tuesday, Hapur was the most polluted city out of 177 cities across the country. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Hapur was recorded at 299, which is close to the very poor category. Meerut and Muzaffarnagar were jointly recorded as the second most polluted cities in the country. The AQI of both these cities stood at 298. 

At the same time, all the three cities included in the most polluted cities of the country are from Meerut-Saharanpur division. According to the website of the Central Pollution Control Board, at 8 am on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the air quality index in Lucknow is 181 in Agra, 179 in Bareilly, 193 in Bareilly, 160 in Varanasi, 127 in Prayagraj, 211 in Kanpur, 166 in Gorakhpur and 373 was recorded in Meerut. The worst situation in this has been found in Meerut.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) portal, Ganganagar in Meerut was the most polluted area on Tuesday. Here the AQI reached the highest level of 500 in the afternoon. There was relief in Modipuram and Jai Bhimnagar, but pollution was also seen in both these areas. The level of PM-10, PM-2.5 in the air of Meerut remains in the dangerous category.
