Chandigarh: The Government of India is continuously working on various schemes to increase the income of small farmers and landless laborers. PM Narendra Modi has also mentioned these schemes in several of his speeches. Now, one such scheme has been launched by the Haryana government, which may prove useful for landless farmers in the near future.

The Haryana government has launched a unique pension scheme called Pran Vayu Devta. Under this, the Khattar government has formulated a scheme to provide pensions to trees above the age of 75 years. It has been decided to provide an annual pension of Rs. 2500 to those who look after these trees. The scheme will not only benefit the old farmers and landless laborers but will also prevent the felling of trees. At the same time, the environment will also be safe and the air quality will also improve. The Ambala Forest Conservation Department has so far got a list of 55 trees for tree pension.

Ambala District Forest Conservation Officer Adarshjit Kaur has said that if any person has a tree in his house aged 75 years or more and is willing to take pension on it, they can apply to the forest department office in their district.
