After a workshop on increasing number of human trafficking by the Chennai railway police, the organization has decided to set up desks on the Chennai railway station to identify victims of harassment indulging in trafficking and forced labor and slavery.

The workshop was attended by 82 inspectors and sub-inspector from different parts of Tamil Nadu. Where the superintendent said that they’ll make sure, the children and women who are vulnerabe  aren’t trapped in these matters at all.

Almost 10,000 cases of human trafficking are registered in India each year, among which Tamil Nadu has the highest number of cases. Every year, many people from the Northern India are bluffed in names of jobs and called to southern India, later to be trapped in this business which has no escape. The main mode of transport for them is train, therefore the Chennai police have planned to set up help desks on railway stations.

It will be temporarily set up Chennai station and if it works , installation on various other towns of the state will be done.

In the past one year around 1000 people were rescued by ChildLine and other organization among which 80% were children trapped into human trafficking.

This a very healthy step taken by the Railway police of Tamil Nadu, let's see if it benifits the locals or not.
