Under Islamic law, a Muslim man can legally have up to 4 wives at one time, but he must treat all wives justly. Failure to do so may result in a wife seeking divorce under the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act 1939.

Under Islamic law, a Muslim man can marry a second wife with the permission of the first wife. For a third marriage, he must obtain consent from his first and second wives. Similarly, for a fourth marriage, approval from all three wives is required, and equal treatment of all wives is mandatory.

Islamic law also states that if a Muslim man marries without the permission of his wives, he must treat all his wives equally. Additionally, the first wife must receive maintenance and all other entitlements.

According to Islamic law, only Muslim men can marry more than one woman. Muslim women do not have permission to marry more than one man.

As per the rules, if a Muslim woman wants to remarry, she must divorce her first husband under Muslim personal law or the Muslim Marriage Act 1939. Only then can she marry again.
