Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the 38th Convocation Ceremony at Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirappalli, alongside Governor RN Ravi and CM MK Stalin.
During the event, PM Modi inaugurated various development projects in sectors like aviation, rail, road, oil, gas, shipping, and higher education, collectively valued at over Rs. 20,000 crore.
Expressing his delight at being part of the convocation ceremony, PM Modi stated, "Being here at the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University is special for me. This is my first public interaction in 2024."

During the graduation event at Bharathidasan University, the Prime Minister referred to poet Bharathidasan's 'Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom' Tamil verses, highlighting the university's motto of creating a brave new world.
Modi praised Indian youth for shaping this world, citing achievements like Chandrayaan missions and a significant rise in patents from 4,000 to nearly 50,000 since 2014. He also commended scholars for representing India globally and musicians/artists for winning international accolades.
He emphasized that education's true purpose is giving back to society and the nation.
This marked Modi's first address at the university since its establishment in 1982.
In a short chat with students, Modi asked if anyone wanted to go to Delhi; two women students enthusiastically raised their hands. He paid respects to Bharathidasan's bust and took a group photo with students, Governor R N Ravi, and Chief Minister M K StaliN.
