A very well known fashion designer Varun Chakkilam who has completed seven years in the industry mentions that, throughout his journey in the industry he has seen how consumers choices have drastically changed over time and added that this evolution of consumers makes the designers evolve too.
Talking about the same, Varun says, “Even after spending so many years in the fashion industry, it’s the customer and the change in the consumption pattern that has been one of the major reasons for the evolution in the fashion industry. And this change has not only helped them to keep in sync with the ongoing trend but also helps the designers evolve.”
Varun added saying, “It feels very great, when art is appreciated. Every morning, I wake up to a fresh thought of design, that I execute as I rush to the studio. There is ever bustling joy in creating something new for the demanding market. Going forward, I want to focus on more sustainable fashion trends.”
The label Varun Chakkilam is a design house engaged in designing customised garments and distribution of couture, ready-to-wear garments specialising in Indian ethnic wear. The couturier has styled artists on more than a 100 occasions, some of which are Lakmé Fashion Week, Annual Fundraiser by Teach for Change, received nationwide acclaim for his bespoke designs.
“When somebody wears my garment and they feel good about it, I feel like I've done something nice. I feel happy when they feel happy. I feel beautiful when they feel beautiful in it," says Varun Chakkilam.
Varun’s latest collection The Utopian Dream, won hearts & brought in laurels for the label. The Utopian Dream is the state of mind of a girl who looks forward to the happiness filled ideal life with her love. This collection suggests that nobility is first & foremost way of envisaging the world, and the very notion of elegance - with equal parts of power and delicacy.
