Islamabad:Pakistan's PRIME Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is reeling under financial crunch, has given an ultimatum to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Mahmood Khan, saying that if the price of a sack of 10 kg of wheat flour is not less than Rs 400 within 24 hours, he will sell his clothes and provide cheap flour to the people himself. Addressing a rally at Thakara Stadium on Sunday (May 29, 2022), Shahbaz Sharif said, "I repeat my words, I will sell my clothes and provide the cheapest wheat flour to the people. '

The echoes of political heat at the public meeting were also heard in Shahbaz Sharif's speech. He attacked former PM Imran Khan, saying he has given the country the gift of the highest ever inflation and unemployment. Shehbaz also criticised the Imran Khan-led government, saying that though Khan had promised to provide 50 lakh houses and 1 crore jobs, he failed and pushed the country into an economic crisis.

According to a media report, during the rally, Shehbaz said, "I announce to you that I will sacrifice my life, but I will put this country on the path of prosperity and development. Let me tell you that there is a big food crisis in front of the common people of Pakistan. The government is preparing itself to fight the wheat shortage crisis as production this year is estimated to be around 30 lakh tonnes short of the target. At the same time, Shahbaz Sharif has also instructed the Pakistani authorities to prepare a strategy for the construction of silos to curb the theft and storage of wheat.
