As he's gotten older, British actor Idris Elba has changed his drinking habits since beer is "not so good on the belly" anymore.

"Back in the day, I was a good beer drinker, but as I've gotten older, it's not so good for my stomach." I've become really interested in whiskey, particularly Japanese whisky, as a result of seeing amazing locations in Japan and conversing with people who know more than I do.

"If it's the beginning of the night and we want to party and I'm not too exhausted, I'll start with vodka and work my way up to tequila and tonic - I prefer to keep things simple." According to media sources, the 'Mountain Between Us' actor has built his own bar, Porte Noire, in London's King's Cross, and has drawn inspiration from his "warm connection" with other bars and pubs.

"I've been going to bars my whole life and I have a really warm relationship with them - definitely more than I'm permitted to confess," he told Big Hospitality. I've lived in a lot of different locations, met a lot of interesting people, and expanded my bartender profession.

"I've worked in them, been drunk in them, and they're a place where I feel at ease." I wanted to make something that was luxurious and unique, but yet relatable, warm, and inviting."
