Kerala govt to give 5 lakh loan to family if the earning man dies from corona

Kochi: Kerala State Women's Development Corporation (KSWDC) has launched a self-employment loan scheme to support families whose sole support for livelihood has died due to covid-19. The scheme has been named Smile and aims to help women whose support died due to the infection of the dangerous virus.

The scheme will be implemented with the help of the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation and the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation. An official statement said applicants were called for a self-employment loan scheme, which is expected to help a large number of women.  The statement said that women in the age group of 18-60 years dependent on a family member who lost their lives due to covid-19 are eligible to avail the loan. Under this, a maximum amount of Rs. 5 lakh can be paid at the rate of six percent interest and a grant of up to Rs. 1 lakh.

However, the scheme can be availed by women who are from Kerala and do not have an annual income of more than Rs 3 lakh. In Kerala, 11,546 new corona cases were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total infection cases to 28,65,871, while the death toll due to infection rose to 12,699 with 118 more deaths. With the recovery of 11,056 people, the total number of people recovered so far in the state has increased to 27,52,492.
