On Thursday, October 21, Maheshwari, a resident of Ramalingapuram in Tenkasi district, who was traveling in a mini bus going towards Kuruvikkulam in the district, lost her balance and slipped from the vehicle and died after falling on the road. Maheshwari was in a mini bus from Kazugumalai back to Kuruvikkulam, where she had gone to buy items for her daughter's upcoming wedding.
The bus was reportedly near its stop, as CCTV footage shows, she got up from her seat near the front door and attempted to gain a steady leg while grasping the railing. From the footage it appears that she lost her balance, stumbled and fell on the road. Due to the commotion of the passengers, it seems that the bus was stopped immediately. Footage from another camera installed outside the bus also shows that passengers are running to help Maheshwari as soon as the vehicle stops.
Maheshwari was taken to the Government Hospital in Kuruvikkulam and later shifted to Palayamkottai Medical College Hospital for further treatment, where she died on Thursday. After the release of CCTV footage from the bus, Kuruvikkulam police have reportedly started an investigation into the incident.
