Rabat: A video of high school students in Turkey kicking and insulting a copy of the Quran has gone viral on the Internet, sparking outrage. The incident took place at a high school in the Serik area of Antalya. A student throws a copy of the Quran into the air, which is being kicked by another student. As the religious text hits the ceiling before falling to the ground, students can be heard laughing in the background.

Turkey's Ministry of Education confirmed that it "also began to take disciplinary action against the students involved in the incident," which they define as "inappropriate behavior towards the Qur'an". An inspector has also been appointed by the ministry to understand the case in detail. Muslims in Turkey and Arab countries were shocked and outraged by the video, with many demanding that the students be held accountable for their actions.

This incident is not the first time that the Quran has been profaned in the country. Four people were detained in northern Turkey in October last year after a video surfaced online showing people tearing and throwing pages of the Quran at a football stadium. Earlier this year, Rasmus Palidar, the leader of Denmark's far-right party Strom Kurs, publicly burned a copy of the Quran to protest Islamophobia in Sweden.
