Income Tax department launches search operation, raids several traders' homes

Srinagar: The Finance Ministry said that all income tax teams have launched search operations at several businessmen, hoteliers' homes and their establishments in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. A search operation was launched on the owner of a series of hotels in Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam. In addition, a vague investment of Rs. 25 crore was recovered in the last six financial years. In another case, the department also launched a campaign on a major jeweller in Srinagar.

During the search, it was found that they did not maintain the jewellery business account, while the turnover of the business is from Rs 2 crore to Rs 10 crore. Earlier in Early September, the income Tax department raided three important businessmen in srinagar and Kupwara cities in the blame for tax evasion related to cross-border trade with Pakistan last year. In this context, the CBDT had said, "Before these campaigns, prima facie, there have been many undisclosed income, unaudited property and prosecution evidence and involvement in Benami transactions. The entire matter is now under investigation.

On the other hand, corona infection cases in the country have seen the biggest ever surge on Thursday. For the first time on Thursday, 97,894 new cases were reported in a day. With these new cases, the number of covid-19 patients in the country has increased to more than 51 lakh. But, the relief is that the number of people who are cured of the disease has also increased. According to statistics, more than 40 lakh 25 thousand people have been cured so far.
