Bilaspur: As we all know that gradually the summer season is getting closer. And it is also natural that in most of the summer season, water shortages have to be faced at many places. Bilaspur received the highest rainfall in 15 years this time. Since June 1, it has received 1263.1 mm of rainfall. In 2004-05, there was 1358.9 mm of rain. Despite this, the heat has not started properly yet and the water level is going down in 5 villages including Kathakoni in Takhatpur. According to the ground water department, the water level has already gone down 65 feet in Kathkoni of Takhatpur block. Whereas by the same period last year it had gone down by 75 feet. The same situation is in the surrounding 6 villages.

According to the information received, in Kathkoni Gram Panchayat of Takhatpur, along with Khamharia, Pendri, Chanadongri, Jaraundha, Kuan and Kekti villages, 400 feet water was not available last year. Remembering the month of February 2018, Jagdish Yadav, sarpanch of Kathkoni, said that in Khamharia and Kekati villages, the situation was such that they had to come to our village till the bath. Whereupon the sarpanch said that the water in the locks is currently low, but the way it is decreasing is worrying. Rajaram leader of the village and Chandrakumar Dhruv told that water is currently coming from the bore but what will happen next will be known only in March.

This is why this situation remains: It is also being said that according to the groundwater scientist SK Parathe, there are many reasons to get the same figures as last year despite the good rains in Kathkoni and surrounding villages. The use of groundwater due to the large number of pumps being run, the lack of adequate recharge of water due to the formation of lime stone.
