Ranchi: The third and final match Ranchi series of three Tests between India and South Africa is being played in Ranchi. The first day of the third test is over today. After winning the toss and batting first, Team India were able to score 224 for the loss of three wickets on the first day due to Rohit Sharma's third century and Rahane's fifty. Rohit Sharma (117) and Ajinkya Rahane (83) returned unbeaten. Due to poor light, the first day's play could only last 58 overs.

In the morning, the South African bowlers bowled brilliantly and dropped India's three wickets for just 39 runs. After cheaply dealing with Mayank Agarwal, Pujara and captain Kohli, Rohit Sharma not only managed the team with Ajinkya Rahane but later shifted gears and also scored fast runs. The two have an unbeaten partnership of 185 runs for the fourth wicket. Rohit hit the sixth of his career and the third century of the series after hitting six.

With this, 'Hitman' became the highest batsman to hit 16 sixes in a Test series. He broke the record of Shimron Hetmeyer of the West Indies. Hetmyer had hit 15 sixes in the series against Bangladesh in 2018/19. Before Rohit, this record for India was in the name of Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan hit 14 sixes in the series against New Zealand in 2010-11. Earlier Rahane also completed his 21st half-century. Rohit Sharma has scored the third century in this series.
