New Delhi: The Indian hockey team has performed brilliantly in the past. Team head coach Graham Reid is overjoyed by the team's performance. Graham Reid wishes his players to do their best in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers against Russia. The Indian team won the FIH Men's Hockey Series Final in Bhubaneswar in June. It then won the Olympic Test tournament in Tokyo in August. The team also remained unbeatable on the Belgium tour in which they won all the matches against the hosts and Spain. "There was no loss in running, effort, speed and energy," Reid said.

It was a better performance than the previous World Cup. Continuous good performance is necessary to play at this level. He said, 'Against Belgium and Spain we managed to do consistently well. It's a good thing that we managed to keep the rhythm. Reid said the control and combination of the ball was good. Now the performance has to be maintained in the same direction.

Reid, who became the head coach in April 2019, said that his team's focus in the FIFA qualifier will be on keeping the basics right. India have to face Russia in the Olympic qualifiers. Talking about the preparations, Reid said, 'Whenever you play against teams like Russia, the biggest challenge is to keep ball possession. Russia likes to keep ball possession and would have found it difficult to take balls from them.
