On Monday, in the Galvan Valley on the India-China border, there was a violent clash between the soldiers of both the countries, in which a colonel and two soldiers were killed. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao consoled the families of martyrs Colonel B Santosh Babu, Havildar Palani and Sipahi Ojha. The message issued from the Telangana Governor's office said, "The governor has expressed solace for the relatives of Colonel B Santosh Babu, Havildar Palani and Sipahi Ojha who were martyred in a violent encounter with Chinese troops on June 15 in Galvan Valley.' Colonel Santosh Babu, a resident of Telangana, was the commanding officer of 16 Bihar Regiment. The martyred colonel was leading the Indian contingent.

In his statement, the message given by the governor further said, 'I salute the brave soldiers who gave their lives for the country. The country will always remember this sacrifice of his. In this time of sorrow, the whole country is with the bereaved families.' Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also expressed grief over the death of these brave soldiers. He said, "Colonel Santosh sacrificed his life for the country and his sacrifice did not cost anything." Condolences to other families including parents, wife, and children, and announced that the state government will help the family in all ways."

The martyr Colonel's mother Manjula, while proud of the son's sacrifice, said that she is proud to lose his son but is also proud of his supreme sacrifice for the country. The ongoing tussle between the Indian and Chinese armies over the encroachment on the Line of Actual Control in East Ladakh took violent form on Monday after which three people including a colonel and two soldiers of the Indian Army died in the clash. The number of martyred Indian soldiers is expected to increase. However, China is also reported to have killed 43 soldiers in retaliatory attacks.
