India kickstarts Round two of vaccination drive begins against corona

India had began its vaccination drive against corona on January 16. Now, the nation has began its second round of corona vaccination drive on Saturday. People who took the jab on January 16, will be given the second dose to complete the process. 

Indian vaccine Covishield and Covaxin, need to administered in two doses with a gap of 28 days. However, according to the expert, the second shot can be taken anytime between four to six weeks from the first dose.    All beneficiaries of round one will be given their second dose in the window of two weeks. 

Health Ministry said that India took just 26 days to vaccinate over 70 lakh people, while the US took 27 days to reach that mark. 79,67,647 beneficiaries have received corona vaccination as on 13th Feb, till 8:00 AM . Out of these, 5,909,136 are Health Care Workers and 2,058,511 are Front Line Workers. 1,64,781 sessions have been conducted so far according to Centre. 8 states have vaccinated more than 4 lakh beneficiaries each.  

Meanwhile, India has recorded 103 deaths caused by corona in the 24 hours.
