Kathmandu: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane on Thursday handed over medical equipment to the Nepal Army. According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, General Narwane, on behalf of the Indian government, introduced equipment for two field hospitals of the Nepalese Army. Instruments handed over by MM Narwane include X-ray machines, computed radiography systems, ICU ventilators, video endoscopy units, anesthesia machines, laboratory equipment and ambulances.

Additional ventilators were also offered to help the Nepalese army in the war against the Coronavirus epidemic. In an honor ceremony, he also paid floral tributes at the 'Veer Smarak' at the Army Pavilion at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. He then visited the Nepalese Army headquarters, where he was awarded a formal Guard of Honor. The Indian Army Chief held a meeting with his Nepalese counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa, during which both sides discussed increasing army-to-army relations and bilateral defense cooperation.

Indian Army Chief Narwane arrived in Nepal on Wednesday on a three-day visit to Nepal at the formal invitation of General Thapa. Apart from this, Narwane will be awarded the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army on Thursday. Nepal's President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will felicitate Army Chief Narwane at the President's office during a ceremony.
