Indian film, Period End of Sentence on menstruation shortlisted for Oscars 2019

There is good news for the Indian as  Period. End of Sentence, a film that focuses on the stigma of menstruation which prevails in India has been shortlisted in the Documentary Short Subject Category for Oscars 2019. This movie portrays the work of real life Padman Arunachalam MuruganathanPeriod. This film is directed by award-winning Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi and is created by The Pad Project, an organisation established by a group of students at the Oakwood School in Los Angeles and their teacher, Melissa Berton.

Monga's Sikhya Entertainment is co-producer of the documentary.  Monga shared this news via social media and wrote “Waking up to this shortlist! So proud and so exciting... I am so humbled to be a part of the producing team.” The short film which is around 26 minutes long is about girls and women in Harpur, North India, and their experience of installing a pad machine in their village.  This film delves upon Arunachalam Muruganantham’s invention of an economical and feasible machine that makes low-cost sanitary napkins using supplies that are readily available in India.
