New Delhi: The dream of lighthouse tourism in India is going to come true soon. The government is planning to introduce lighthouse tourism at the earliest. The shipping ministry has held a meeting recently. In this meeting, talks have been held on the opportunities to develop tourism around the iconic lighthouses of the country.
According to sources, Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level meeting today. In which there was a discussion to develop 194 lighthouses present in the country as important tourist destinations. According to sources, the government is emphasizing on increasing tourism-related activities in the area around Light Houses. This will create new jobs which will also be good for an economy. A detailed action plan has also been introduced to develop lighthouses as tourism spots.
The shipping minister asked the officials to identify such lighthouses which are more than 100 years old. A museum should be prepared in which information about the history of lighthouses, how it work, what equipment was used in its operation, should be given.
