Lockdown 4 has come into effect from 18 May. The regular trains starting from June 1,  tickets booking opened on Thursday. With the opening of the online window, tremendous traffic increased, for which the Railway Ministry was completely ready this time. As of 4 pm, tickets for 5.51 lakh passengers were booked for tickets for a total of 101 trains.

In view of the stampede, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, "From Friday, about one and a half lakh community service centres (CSCs) will be opened for railway ticket booking." Railways have said that apart from this, tickets will also be sold at select reservation counters at railway stations and railway premises. Refund will be provided for cancelled tickets for special trains running from June 1.

Apart from this, Railway Minister Goyal said in an interview to BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on social media that tickets are not only being booked on behalf of metros to small cities and districts but also 'reverse booking' of tickets have also been done. With the departure of people, return tickets are also being booked. He said, 'Return tickets are being made the most from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa.'
