New Delhi: The rising temperatures have given some relief to the North Indians from the scorching cold, but the winters are not over yet as the Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has forecast rain and snowfall in many parts of the country. IMD said that western disturbance has started in the northern Himalayan regions and this is expected to bring rains in the north as well as the states of central India. Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will receive snowfall along with rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu are expected to receive rains between 12 to 15 February. Meanwhile, rain and snowfall is forecast in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days. Dense fog may remain in various areas of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh from today.
Apart from the hilly areas, mercury has been seen in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal and IMD said that the temperature may increase further in the coming days. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that a total of 5,808 flights in India were delayed or cancelled due to unfavourable conditions, including fog.
