Indian athlete Ankushita Boro has won a gold medal in the AIBA Youth World Championship held in Guwahati recently. Boro, who hails from Meghai Jarani village in Sonitpur town of central Assam, has been in the news for winning a gold medal in the light welterweight 64 kg weight class in this championship, the most important thing is that the 17-year-old had quit boxing a few years ago, after which she made history by making a comeback in the ring.

It may be mentioned that on Friday, union sports minister Rajyavardhan Rathore gave her a 6-year-old victory when Ankushita Boro won the gold medal. She has given a prize of Rs 7 lakh and Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh has also given her an award of Rs 2 lakh. Ankushita said, "When I started playing in 2012, I was fortunate to have all kinds of facilities, including a great coach like Tridib sir, but things got worse day by day. There were disputes in the administrative functioning both at home and at the centre, during that time I was also tested, I did not put my gloves on my hand for about six months, but thanks to my family, who inspired me and made me confident.
