The UN General Assembly and World Health Organization hosted an event, Accountability breakfast 2020 - Advancing women's, children's and adolescents' health during COVID-19 focused on securing global accountability for protecting the health and rights of women, children and adolescents involved the participation of a passionate youth Shukti Anantha, 17 from Mysuru as one of the youngest speakers. Shukti, is an adolescent leader and youth advocate for adolescent health and student at Vidhyaashram High School in Mysuru.

PWG-STEPS (Policy Working Group - Stepping Towards Enhancing Policy Structures) is a nationwide autonomous youth network on adolescent health advocacy through which she engages in initiatives to inform youth about India's national adolescent health programme, other relevant programs and policies. She writes about mental-health and well being the most. She highlighted the importance of adolescent health at an young age through education, awareness, and parenting. The pandemic aroused many issues in adolescents both mentally and physically, it has to be resolved with appropriate resources. The national adolescent health program or Rastriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) is one among the few programs by the government on adolescent health. O ne more challenge she pointed out is lack of formal avenues for youth engagement in adolescent health program and policies.

A lot of adolescent health issues have come to limelight such as lack of access to sexual and reproductive health needs, mental health issues such as depression, suicide and also lack of mid-day meals that several young children relied upon due to the lockdown and the pandemic. It is noted that Dettol has launched Birds and Bee Talk program for adolescents in Arunachal Pradesh joining hands with AP state government.
