New Delhi: Following the unexpected and devastating terrorist attacks on Israel originating from the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on behalf of India, strongly denounced the acts of terror. He expressed unwavering support for Israel and conveyed his condolences to the innocent victims of the attack carried out by Hamas terrorists.

In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his shock and sadness regarding the terrorist attacks in Israel. He extended his thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families and reaffirmed India's solidarity with Israel during this challenging period. In response to India's stance, the Consul General of Israel, Kobbi Shoshani, expressed gratitude to New Delhi for its support.

Simultaneously, on various social media platforms, several hashtags expressing support for Israel have gained popularity. Amidst these developments, past resolutions and anti-Israel statements by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have resurfaced on the internet.

One such instance of the AAP's anti-Israel stance involved the party issuing an official release calling for the Indian Parliament to pass a resolution to cease the purchase of weapons from Israel. In this statement, the party also insisted that both houses of Parliament should prevent the Modi government from altering India's position on the Israel-Palestine issue.

To appeal to its voter base, AAP aligned itself with fringe Islamist groups and pro-Palestine sentiments, diverging from the prevailing Indian opinion and the country's long-term interests. The party demanded that Parliament take action against Israel.

The now-deleted release stated, "The Aam Aadmi Party demands that both Houses of Parliament should immediately pass unanimous resolutions condemning the completely unjustified Israeli attacks on Gaza and should not allow the Narendra Modi government to reverse the decades-old stand of the country on this important issue. The AAP also demands that the Indian government must seek action against Israel's repeated and widespread violations of human rights. It must stop purchasing arms from Israel since these revenues appear to be used to oppress the people of Palestine."

It further added, "Currently, the Palestinian people are living under an oppressive military rule. It is clear, as recommended by various international bodies including those affiliated with the UN, that the demand for an independent and unified Palestine is an urgent necessity. The Aam Aadmi Party is of the firm view that India should not deviate from its earlier principled position on Palestine. It should support the demand for an independent Palestine."

In 2014, the Aam Aadmi Party organized a candlelight vigil for Gaza. A Facebook post from the party's official handle invited citizens, volunteers, and supporters to join in solidarity and support for the people of Gaza.

In another post, the party held Israel responsible for the loss of life and destruction of property in Palestine. A July 2014 post stated, "Israel should bear all liabilities and full responsibility for the wanton destruction and loss of life."

It's crucial to note that on the morning of October 7th, the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas executed a surprise attack on Israel, launching over 7,000 rockets at residential buildings in several Israeli towns, resulting in the deaths of more than 40 people. Additionally, dozens of uniformed terrorists infiltrated Israeli territories through both land and sea, engaging in indiscriminate firing on the streets. The terrorists also took several Israelis hostage and subjected several women civilians to injuries and humiliation. This attack represents one of the most severe terrorist incidents in Israel in recent decades, prompting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare that Israel is at war with terrorists.
