New Delhi: INS Khanderi, the second Scorpene-class submarine, has joined the Indian Navy on Saturday. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh himself joined the commissioning of the new submarine in Mumbai. INS Khanderi is India's second Scorpion-class fire submarine, which is inducted into the Navy along with a P-17 Shivalik class warship. Today, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also lay the foundation stone of the aircraft carrier Drydock.

Apart from this, Rajnath Singh will spend the entire day in the Arabian Sea on INS Vikramaditya, the Kiev-level aircraft carrier of India today. Rajnath Singh will be in the sea later on Saturday afternoon and till Sunday afternoon, he will be involved in all naval operations besides seeing the capability of firing missiles. This INS Khanderi has several features that make it one of the best and most advanced submarines in the country. INS Khanderi can be divided into several parts. First of all we have its battery section i.e. from where the submarine gets the energy to move.

Let us tell you that INS Khanderi is equipped with the most advanced technology available in today's era. It has 360 battery cells inside. The weight of each battery cell is approximately 750 kg. It has two 1250 kW diesel engines inside. Not only this, INS Khanderi can go on a 45-day journey on the basis of these batteries, even if it has all the members .
