Indore: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal raised objections to the entry of non-Hindu youths into the Garba programme in Indore, Madhya Pradesh and stopped the programme. Hindutva organisations accuse programme operator Ananshtu Tiwari of promoting love jihad and demanded strict action. Police from ASP, CSP and several police stations took five youths into custody and took action under Section 188 against them.

According to media reports, the Garba was organised by Ananshtu Tiwari, director of Oxford College in the Gandhinagar area of the city. The administration had allowed 800 people for the event, but thousands of people were mobilized. People from other communities were also admitted during the visit. It is alleged that a ticket of Rs.150 was sold in black for up to Rs.600. Police have taken action under Section 188 against five youths including operator Ananshtu Tiwari on the objection of Hindutva organisations. According to Section 188 of the IPC, stringent punishment has been provided against those who do not comply with the order issued by any public servant. According to it, anyone who deliberately disobeys the order of a public servant can be sentenced to jail or fined or both.

In the recent past, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has pasted posters with 'non-Hindu entry prohibited' at Durga Pandals in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh. On this, activists of the religion-spreading dimension of VHP clearly say that non-Hindus do not include Hindu customs in their religious beliefs, so they too do not have the right to come to Garba pandals.
