Apple is set to make a significant change with its upcoming iPhone 16 series. For the first time, the tech giant will assemble its premium iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in India through its partner, Foxconn. This move marks a major shift as Apple expands its production footprint in the country.

According to a latest report, Apple has started training thousands of workers at its factory in Tamil Nadu to prepare for the assembly of these high-end iPhone models. The new product introduction (NPI) process for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is about to begin at Foxconn's facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. Once the models are officially launched, the assembly process will move to mass production.

Foxconn is expected to start assembling the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max within weeks of their global release. Additionally, other Apple partners in India, including Pegatron's local unit and Tata Group, might also join in the production of these models.

The iPhone 16 standard models made in India are anticipated to be available on the same day as their global launch. This expansion in production reflects Apple’s growing commitment to increasing its manufacturing presence in India, alongside Foxconn and Tata Electronics.
