Iranian authorities have removed anti-India posters on the walls of the Pakistani embassy in the northeast city of Mashhad on 15 August. On 15 August, the so-called 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' posters were posted on the walls of the Consulate, but at midnight the local police removed the posters.

Iran has called these methods an 'undisciplined strategy'. Tehran has clearly stated to Islamabad that putting such posters against a third country is against diplomatic norms. When Pakistan raised this issue through a verbal note, Tehran has described it as unfortunate. Authorities in Tehran questioned Pakistani diplomats, 'If Pakistanis will allow it if posters against Saudi Arabia are placed on the walls of the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad. '
