Beirut: An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Nabatieh city, south Lebanon, resulted in the deaths of around 10 people, including two children, and left five others wounded, according to state news agency reports on Saturday. All the victims were Syrian citizens. The final toll of the strike will be confirmed after DNA tests are conducted to identify the victims.

The Israeli military confirmed that the airstrike targeted a weapons depot used by Hezbollah militants. This attack follows a recent escalation in tensions in the region. The strike occurred after ceasefire talks between Palestinian Islamist group Hamas and Israel in Doha were paused on Friday, with plans to resume negotiations next week.

Recent violence has heightened regional tensions: a rocket strike attributed to Hezbollah killed 12 children and teens in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. In retaliation, Israel killed a senior Hezbollah commander in the suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah and Iran have vowed to retaliate, with Iran particularly angered by the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of Hamas, in Tehran.
