Imphal: Ahead of the assembly elections in Manipur, national leaders of the Congress have started reaching Imphal to meet key party officials and chalk out an election strategy. Sources said assembly elections in the northeastern state are likely to be held in the last week of March next year. Former Union minister Jairam Ramesh, who was recently appointed election observer for Manipur, arrived in Imphal on Friday on a five-day visit to the state.

Upon his arrival, Ramesh met Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and MLA N Loken Singh, Congress Working Committee member and MLA Gaikhangam and other party members in the Congress. met the leaders.
