Srinagar: Three people were shot dead by terrorists in the Kashmir Valley within 90 minutes on Tuesday. Makhanlal Bindru, owner of a famous Pharmacy in Srinagar, was shot dead in his commercial premises in the Iqbal Park area here. At the same time, two others were shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir, one of whom was a resident of Bihar and lived by selling Golgappe and Bhelpuri.

The Resistance Force (TRF) has taken responsibility for the killings, which are considered to be Lashkar-e-Taiba related organisations. A police official said the attackers shot Bindru (68) from close range around 7 pm when he was in his pharmacy. He said Bindru was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Bindru was hit by four bullets.

Bindru, who came from the Kashmiri Pandit community, was among the few who did not flee after terrorism started in Jammu and Kashmir in the 1990s. He stayed here with his wife and continued to run his pharmacy 'Bindru Medicat.' Within an hour of the incident, militants killed a non-local street vendor in the city's Hawal area. A police official said, Virendra, a resident of Bihar who sold Gol-Gappe and Bhelpuri, was also shot at close range, who died on the spot.
