'Jhansi railway station to be named Veerangana Lakshmibai station', HC seals Yogi govt's decision

Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court has given a major jolt to the petitioner while sealing a decision of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. In fact, on a petition filed against the UP government's decision to rename Jhansi railway station, the Allahabad High Court said that Rani Laxmibai had sacrificed in the war against the British. Therefore, Jhansi should be known by the name of Veerangana Lakshmibai. The petitioner argued that people were getting confused by not changing the name of the Jhansi railway station.

The Yogi Adityanath government has changed the names of many stations and cities in its five-year tenure. It also includes the name of the Jhansi railway station. The Yogi government had renamed the railway station of Jhansi as Veerangana Lakshmibai and a petition was filed against it in the Allahabad High Court. The petitioner had contended that due to the change in the name of the railway station, many passengers were getting confused.

After which the High Court commented and sealed the decision of the state government, saying that Rani Lakshmibai had sacrificed in the fight against the British. Therefore, Jhansi should be known by the name of Veerangana Lakshmibai. The announcement of CM Yogi Adityanath, Jhansi station was renamed as Veerangana Lakshmibai in December last year.
