Ranchi: After trampling a woman police Sandhya Topno to death with a vehicle in Jharkhand's Ranchi city, now in Gumla in Jharkhand, cattle smugglers have tried to crush policemen. However, the policemen moved from the front of the vehicle showing promptness, due to which he narrowly escaped. Kit ASI Prasiddh Tiwari suffered an injury in his leg. According to information, the Raidih police station of Gumla had received information that the smugglers were carrying bovine animals in the truck. After which a police team was deployed at the Shankh Bend Majhatoli.

An attempt was made to stop a cargo truck and a Bolero. However, these vehicles tried to trample on the policemen instead of stopping and then overtook them. The police team somehow backed down and saved his life. Immediately after this, an alert was issued on wireless and the police team started chasing the smugglers. The Bolero crashed while trying to escape, but the driver fled. At the same time, an attempt was made to stop the truck by putting a barrier near the police station gate in Raidih. Here too the truck tried to trample the policemen and broke the barrier and moved forward. The police team somehow saved his life here. ASI Prasiddh Tiwari suffered an injury to one of his toes after saving his life. The driver parked the truck near the Silam bypass road and fled.

Police seized both vehicles. The police distributed 41 bovine animals loaded on them to the villagers. An FIR has been lodged in this regard at Raidih police station against cattle smuggler Mohammad Danish Qureshi, driver Mohammad Mojahid Ansari and vehicle owners under other sections including the Jharkhand Animal Cruelty Act. The accused smugglers will be arrested soon.

Let us know that earlier in Ranchi, the woman police Sandhya Topno was crushed to death by a vehicle. She tried to stop a vehicle for a search late last night after receiving information about the illegal smuggling of animals. However, instead of listening to her, the smugglers crushed her with a van. As soon as the incident was reported, several policemen including the SHO rushed to the spot. They admitted Sandhya to RIMS Hospital. But she died because of being badly crushed. Earlier, a DSP was crushed to death in Nuh in Haryana and a policeman in Gujarat. This is the fourth such incident in 48 hours, and it is pointing to a dangerous trend that both the police and the government need to be vigilant about.
