JNU Molestation Case, Police Arrests Accused, Recovers Victim's Phone

The Delhi Police has cracked the JNU molestation case and arrested the accused in the Delhi neighbourhood of Munirka. The incident occurred on the University's campus on January 17.

Gaurav Sharma, DCP, south-west district, told reporters that the accused was a regular at JNU and committed the crime while under the influence of alcohol.

"On the intervening night of 17th January, we received a PCR call reporting that a JNU girl had allegedly been molested; in light of the sensitivity of the matter, I personally went to JNU and began investigations. Today, we have solved the case and apprehended the accused. Akshay Dholai is the accused; he is 27 years old and a resident of 24 Pargana, West Bengal. He resides in Delhi's Murnika neighbourhood and works at a mobile phone shop in the Bhikaji Cama area "Gaurav Sharma, DCP, stated.

Additionally, it was alleged that the accused person drove away with the victim's mobile phone after attempting to molest.

An investigation was launched following the registration of the case at Vasant Kunj North Police Station.
