On the internet ban in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Kapil Sibal welcomed the order of the Supreme Court and said that this will restore the flow of information in the area. The Congress leader termed this arrangement of the apex court as guiding that the prohibition order under section 144 of the CrPC cannot be used indefinitely to suppress ideological differences along with freedom of speech and expression.

In his statement, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the Prime Minister should remember that the country is bowing to the Constitution and not before them. Chidambaram, while targeting the government, said, 'The Supreme Court has ordered that indefinite internet restrictions and uncontrolled use of section 144 are not acceptable in democracy.'

Apart from this, senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said that there was doubt in the minds of people about the condition of Kashmir. Section 144 was in force in entire Kashmir, internet, communication was closed, so we filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Twitter got flooded after the Supreme Court decision. One user tweeted, 'You can see the right to breathe by the court as the right to the Internet in Kashmir. You have been deprived of oxygen for five months, so wait a week. It will be seen that patients need oxygen, then we will decide.
